Abstract: The distribution and number of the giant panda in the National Foping Natur al Reserve,Shanxi Province wereinvestigated from November to December， 1990． Using the method of route investigation and mathematic modol could becaclculated the giant panda's number．The results showed that there wereabout 64 pandas inthe areaof 293 km² of Reservation and the density was 0.22／km²．Comparison to thesurveying in 1974，1983 and 1988. it indicated that the Foping giant panda population had maintained relatively stable．Most panda appeared in the reservation where thepeople's activities were least and the bamboo grows well．

摘要： 作者于1990年11-12月对佛坪自然保护区境内大熊猫的分布和数量进行了调查。结果得知在区内293平方公里中共有大熊猫64只，平均密度为0.22只／平方公里。与1974、1983、1988年3次的调查结果比较，表明佛坪大熊猫现有种群基本稳定。
