Abstract: This paper describes the morphology and fine structure of the pineal body of plateau pika (0chotona curzoniae)and discuss the correlation between the structure and function of pineal cells．The results are as follows:
1． The pineal complex that is composed of the superficial and the deep of pineal in plateau pika is similar to that of mammalian．The morphological structure of supercficial and deep of pineal body is similar．The pineal body of plateau pika is essentially composed of pinealocytes，glialcells，neurons，blood canals and neural fibers．The pinealoeyte is composed of two kinds of celltypes,a "bright"and a"dark" cell. The abundant mitochondria，predominant Golgi apparatus，rough and smooth of endoplasmic reticulum,ribosome occasional microtubules and lipid droplets are seen in both cell types。
2．The numbers of vesicles，micsrotubules andsynaptic ribbon in the pinealocytes are related to secreting effects of pinealocytes.
3．The secretory substances of the pinealocytes are let out to the perivascular and intercellular spaces by means of exocytosis and diffusion and may directly enter the third ventricle．
